Application Modernization
Move off legacy PHP, COBOL, C++, and aging .NET Framework applications without a risky big-bang rewrite. We modernize incrementally so the system stays in production and the business sees value every sprint.
Most legacy systems are not failing because the code is old. They are failing because nobody can change them safely anymore. We start by making change safe again: we map what the system actually does, put tests around the behavior that matters, and then replace it piece by piece. Users keep working the entire time, and you can stop at any milestone with a better system than you started with.
What we deliver
- Codebase assessment, risk analysis, and phased modernization roadmap
- Incremental migration to C#/.NET and ASP.NET MVC using a strangler pattern
- Database refactoring and performance optimization
- Technical debt reduction, refactoring, and automated test coverage
- Knowledge capture from legacy systems before key people retire
Multi-brand commerce platform modernization
A national multi-brand retailer needed its aging commerce platform modernized without taking storefronts offline. Our principal designed distributed services for payments, inventory, fulfillment, and reporting, and modernized roughly half of the legacy codebase incrementally while it stayed in production.
At a glance
- of the legacy codebase modernized in production

Our approach
Assess before you commit
A written current-state review covering architecture, data, integrations, and risk, with a roadmap that shows what to modernize first and what to leave alone.
Replace in slices
New services take over one workflow at a time behind the existing interface, so each release is small, reversible, and testable.
Protect the data
Data conversions are scripted, repeatable, and reconciled against the source system before cutover, not after.
Where we have done this
- Modernized roughly half of a national multi-brand retailer's legacy commerce codebase while it stayed in production (key personnel experience).
- Two decades designing and leading development of public-sector financial ERP software in C#, .NET, C++, COBOL, SQL Server, and Oracle (key personnel experience).
- More than a decade of continuous improvement on a hosted platform for transportation agencies, evolving it as agency requirements changed.
- Server migrations and platform moves for long-running client websites and applications.
