Technical & Product Leadership
Experienced leadership without a full-time executive hire. We help teams decide what to build, estimate it honestly, and deliver it with discipline.
Many projects go wrong before the first line of code: unclear requirements, optimistic estimates, or a custom build where a subscription would have done. We bring the judgment that comes from decades of shipping and supporting software, including telling you when not to build.
What we deliver
- Requirements gathering, stakeholder alignment, and acceptance criteria
- Roadmap and backlog ownership (Professional Scrum Product Owner certified)
- Architecture and code reviews, estimating, and technical planning
- Build-versus-buy evaluations and vendor selection
- Mentoring developers and establishing engineering standards
Build-versus-buy evaluations
Two statewide professional associations needed systems to manage their annual meetings. We evaluated feasibility, scope, and options against their requirements and budget, then recommended existing subscription software that met their needs at a lower upfront cost than custom development. On build projects, we deliver in month-long cycles with a demonstration of completed work at the end of each.

Our approach
Write it down
Scope, assumptions, and acceptance criteria in plain language that stakeholders sign off on.
Estimate honestly
Milestone-based estimates with named risks, not a single optimistic number.
Recommend the cheaper path
If buying beats building, we say so, even when it means less work for us.
Where we have done this
- Recommended lower-cost subscription software over a custom build for two statewide professional associations after a requirements and feasibility review.
- Month-long delivery cycles on client projects, each ending with a demonstration of completed work so clients can see progress and set the next priorities.
- Requirements discovery, backlog management, developer coordination, code review, testing, and release preparation on client engagements.
- Co-led a five-person engineering team, reviewed code, and mentored developers on a high-volume commerce platform (key personnel experience).
