I’m such a nerd (and a programming genius). Here’s my Nokia Bluetooth Stereo Headset (BH-905) with “noise canceling” technology. It’s designed to block out sound for listening AND for the receiver during phone conversations.
It slightly blocks out the ambient noise while listening. However, the noise canceling microphone doesn’t work! I tried it in Starbucks today. My wife said that she could hear the background noise so loudly; it was as if people 15 feet away were speaking directly into the microphone. I switched from bluetooth to regular phone mode and she could hear me 100% better. Besides it not working, this is the dorkiest headset I’ve ever laid eyes on. Sending them back.
I also am trying the Bose Quiet Comfort 15 headphones. Regarding listening, these are WAY better. However, they don’t have a noise canceling microphone, which is my greatest need. Sending these back too.
Seems that the technology I need doesn’t exist. Oh well… Starbucks, turn down your music!
